Donate Now

Your child sponsorships cover the bare necessities that we all need, every day of our lives-food, housing, education. Your donations provide funding for targeted projects designed to increase the children’s skill set and independence and the self-sufficiency of the community.

Whether you would like to sponsor an enrichment field trip and join the kids on the excursion or would prefer to simply prefer to make a general donation, we’d love to have you as part of our support network. Click on an option listed below!

Sponsor a child

When you sponsor a Pimpollo child, you become their patricinador/a and receive updates on your child. You can sponsor for any monthly dollar amount, but we suggest a minimum of $35 dollars per month. These funds:

  • Supplement the diet of the children with more nutritional variety
  • Provide for basic educational expenses
  • Purchase much needed medications
  • Cover salaries for those caring for Pimpollo’s children
  • Afford other basic needs

How involved do you have to be? You decide. Some of our donors correspond with their children; others prefer to simply send in their monthly funds.

Fund a project

We encourage donations to the general fund, as this allows us to funnel resources into projects as needs arise. If you have a particular interest in developing a certain area, however, we welcome your assistance!

Past projects have included:

  • An onsite chicken farm that provides a consistent source of protein for the kids
  • A new library with 350 new children’s books
  • Volunteer quarters for long term FOP volunteers
  • New kitchen equipment for the dining hall
  • Furnishings and hundreds of books for the new library
  • Materials to build lockers for each child to store his/her belongings
  • Maintenance of the physical plant to ensure safe, functional condition
  • A computer room outfitted with fans, new computers and internet access

Sponsor an enrichment trip

Help Pimpollo youth explore the world around them. Sponsor an enrichment field trip such as a community service expedition to Oaxaca City for Pimpollo’s teenagers…or an exploration excursion to the Children’s Museum in Puebla. Email Dave Dukehart at dave@friendsofpimpollo.org.

Send a student to college

Every year a number of Pimpollo’s young adults graduate from prepatoria (high school) and wish to pursue a college degree. Others would like to develop specific vocational skills so they can support the Pimpollo community or venture out and support themselves on their own. Donate to our education fund so we can award education and training scholarships to motivated learners!

Boost the reading program

Family of Readers (FOR) is a new program designed to enhance and support the reading and writing skills of Pimpollo’s children. By improving literacy and expanding their world views through culturally relevant books, we hope to better prepare them for school achievement and life success.

We are looking for generous individuals, school classrooms, book clubs and service organizations to support the program. You can do so in a variety of ways:

  • Sponsor a book kit. A kit of 4-6 books and a small completion celebration for the kids ranges in cost from $75-150.
  • Make a general donation. From $25 to $2500, any funds you contribute will make a difference in the success of the program.

Link kids with their families

Family to Family (F2F) is a new program designed to provide a safety net for those children who leave Pimpollo and decide to live with family members or friends. Run by a native Juchitecan, Jorge Villavicencio, F2F serves as a resource and referral network to provide essential services to kids and their families. Villacencio conducts family visits, assesses family situations and needs and reports to FOP on recommendations for support.

We are currently exploring additional ways (such as micro loan programs) we can use to support these kids and their families in their efforts to rise above poverty and keep their families in tact.
