Building Dreams Together

Friends of Pimpollo set out to help children, young adults and individuals accomplish their dreams. With your help, together, we have done just that. Success is not just measured in the number of schoolrooms constructed or meals served, but is evident in the college graduations, children excelling in the classroom, and parents learning to read and write.

Students have realized their dreams and potential. Families have hope. The community is unified. With your continued support, we look forward to what students will dream up next. We continue to walk with them as they strive for a dignified education.

“A Rising Tide Raises All Boats”

A Rising Tide Raises All BoatsA special thank you to the St. John the Apostle fourth grade class for creating our centerpieces and decorations for this year’s Cinco de Mayo celebrations. The class designed over 300 boats of all varieties- canoes, barges, sailboats, cruise ships… all representing that “a rising tide raises all boats.”

The entire class attended the Salem Cinco de Mayo luncheon and three student representatives shared about the classes experience serving others:

“The reason we love Friends of Pimpollo is because they focus on education. Being students ourselves we know how important getting a good education is.

We have learned how education can break the cycle of poverty for these children. If they can get a good education they can get a good job. When they have children they won’t have to grow up in such hard conditions.

It is exactly why we are working so hard in school. We want to have a better life! We have dreams just like the children in Mexico do.

We have dreams to grow up and be successful. To provide for our families and to get the job we have always wanted.

We have dreams to make our world a better place and to serve others. We have the opportunity to follow those dreams. We want to make sure the children in Mexico have that same opportunity.”

ReadingIf you missed our fundraising luncheon in Salem, don’t worry. You are invited to a special Friends of Pimpollo (pronounced pim-poy-o) Cinco de Mayo Celebration at The Grand Hotel at Bridgeport on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 7 p.m.

The event is free of charge (donations will be accepted) and guests will enjoy Oaxacan style food and special guest speakers who will highlight the remarkable transformation our organization has accomplished in the Vicente Guerrero community in Southern Mexico.

The Grand Hotel at Bridgeport has a very special connection to Friends of Pimpollo. Many of their staff members along with some of the staff at The Grand Hotel in Salem, Bentley’s Grill and The Salem Convention Center have been personally involved with our organization for many years and have seen first hand the enormous impact the organization has had on these communities with programs such as:
